At Vils Entreprenørforretning, we have solid experience in establishing and operating resource sites in close collaboration with both municipalities and utility companies. We can support the entire process – including obtaining the necessary environmental approvals – with the goal of creating efficient and sustainable solutions for managing surplus soil from construction projects in the municipality and surrounding areas.

Our resource site, VILS GR, serves as a temporary storage location for soil from projects such as roadworks, sewer, water, and district heating installations. Here, the soil is mapped, analyzed, sorted, and—where relevant—stabilized with lime, gravel, or sand. The treated soil can then be reused directly in excavations, for example as pipe bedding or up to the subgrade level of road construction.

This creates several advantages:

• Reduced transport needs, as the soil does not have to be hauled over long distances for disposal or interim storage

• Lower consumption of new raw materials, as reusing existing soil reduces the need to purchase new materials

• Greater sustainability in construction projects, with a lower CO₂ footprint and a more circular use of resources

• More flexible and local logistics, leading to time savings and better control over soil flow and handling

Lime stabilization of wet soil – technically and economically advantageous soil improvement

Lime stabilization is a documented method to improve the properties of clay and sandy soils, especially under challenging, wet conditions. By stabilizing existing soil rather than replacing it, significant time and financial benefits are achieved – not least because the dependence on weather is significantly reduced. This reduces the risk of delays in connection with, for example, heavy rainfall.

At Vils Entreprenørforretning, we operate a mobile lime mixing plant that allows us to handle projects of all sizes efficiently. For in-situ lime stabilization, we collaborate with partners such as SR-Gruppen, giving us access to their specialized expertise when needed.

Our mobile systems are particularly well-suited for smaller projects—such as the renovation of sewer, drinking water, and district heating lines, as well as the construction of noise barriers, utility corridors, or minor infrastructure upgrades in both urban and rural areas.
